Finally

Ok so this week is going to be the bathtub shot. I have the dress, the model, the camera and the BATHTUB!!!! You can see my ideas at this link

The following quotes will appear beside this weeks images. It is a quote from Floria sigismondi's Redemption (which is in my book list)

"I was drowning, I was dying, the one who saved me was also the one who contaminated me"
This quote appeared alongside one of Floria's images of a girl submerssed in water which I plan to scan onto the blog. (now shown left)

Also I tend to draw my ideas and after viewing floria's book where she includes her ideas as drawings I am going to upload my drawings to the blog also.

Monday 15 March 2010

This was my first ever macro shot and I think it came out quite well. Again depth of field but I really like how the chain seems to disapear.
ok so even though I was not neccisarly inspired for this shot by this photogrpaher he has inspired me to do a lot more macro shots. Link

This is my favirote image due to the depth of field and the sharpness of the diamonds.
My inspiration for macro shots is here

I love this image the diamonds are really detailed. And I like the depth of field with the chain. The closet image to this is a comercial image seling jewlery which you can find at this link .

I would like this image alot more if the front of the necklace was in focus. Although it does give depth of field.

I like this image although it is very anoying that the necklace is so near the bottom of the image. The image of a heart is very strong in our culture. It symbolises love and the heart even though the human heart is no where near this in shape. This does not show any where near what it could symbolise.

Week Three again

ok so it is not going to be the bathtub shoot this week. Instead I took macro shots.

week three

ok so this week IS going to be the bathtub shoot (for all my planning please read the previous posts)

Monday 8 March 2010

I took this image because I really like the tonal range of the orange in the shot. I also took it at an odd angle giving it more of an intresting look.

Again another odd angle. Unfortuantly I can not post a contact sheet of this shoot due to a technical fault on the memory stick these images were on.

Week Two

This is the view out of my boyfriends window. I think it is an amazing view and wanted to show it to others. I also took it at an odd angle. I think odd angles give a more intresting feel to certain images.

Change of heart

Ok soooo due to the problems I have had with the second week original idea (which will now be week 3 or 4) I have taken images of landscapes instead.

Yet another set back!

Ok so another set back is that where I wanted to shoot (in a bath tub) is not possible due to my house and a friends house not having a bath and only showers!! So I am going to try and adapt my idea to fit around a shower (with any luck!)

Model Dilema

Ok so due to my model I had origianly planned to use having a fear of being underwater (just my luck) I am going to have to model myself as the only other model I have is male. So I am going to set up the camera how I want the image to look or explain to a friend how I want the shot to look and then all he has to do is press the button.

second week people!

OK first shoot done and I was really happy with it and I captured what I wanted to capture, the only thing I would change is I would have liked more time to do more complex makeup and take more photographs so I may come back to this set of photogrpahs in the future. From this shoot I have learnt that I need to make sure I have enough time to prepare any make up or costume and also that I have set up the set before the model arrives to save time. I also need to take from this the aspect of not being trigger happy and think about my images before I take them.
Now enough of the past and to the future.
Soo...this idea sounds a little odd but the picture it was inspired by gives it more sense. My idea is suicide, or rather the idea of suicide. I would like to take pictures of a female in a filled bathtub. I am hoping to first take a picture of the bath on its own, then with only a leg hanging out then a leg and arm and then getting closer to the bathtub. The last two images will be the girl underwater seeming unconcious (or dead) and then the last will be with her eyes wide open under the water.
It is influenced by floria sigismondi's photogrpah of a girl in an empty bath in a tatterd dress. (see link)
The camera I would like to use is a 400D or possible a medium format camera.

Thursday 25 February 2010

I think of all the photos I have put up this is my least favirote but I have put it up because of the intense look in the eye and the closeup of the makeup. I wish that like the Rankin image I have posted the make up was perfect to every detail. But I had to work with the products I had and did not have the time or resorces to use air brushing.

By the time I had taken this picture I realised that I really liked the strange camera angles which gave me he idea to do more of my images in this way.

Again I really like this angle. This image is also lighter then the others and so is the look the model is giving. I think they work really work well together. Ok after reading redemption (Floria Sigismondi) I found a quote by her that summed up what I wanted to show
"Abnormality is in the eye of the beholder"

I like this close up and the angle of the photo. I like the almost "carelessness" of the photo which is the combination of the angle and the models look. The contact sheet of this shoot is here.

My inspiration for this shoot was Rankin's beauty work (which you can find here along with anotation) in which make up was a huge part of the image. It was done in studio. I love this image, the look in his eyes is quite dark and turns the make up that could be delicate and light to a darker look.

Wiped Clean

Ok so over the last few days I have scraped all of my original ideas to follow a new one which to me feels more intresting. The basis of it is extreame make up and extreame beauty shots.
